Stuff in boxes

And the things that get stuffed inside hearts. It comes out as stuff in boxes. Things that never get sorted. Stuff that stays in boxes.

Stuff your anger. Translation: don’t talk about your shit near me. But I’m anxious. Cuz I’m questioning myself cuz I’m not spozed to be hurt or angry. The I cry because I’m anxious and mad and that looks like depression which gets handled in shame and isolation.

Moving the boxes of stuff back to their place. The physical manifestation of my former surroundings. It’s taking a longer time than I anticipated making sense of my surroundings this time around. Moving is the word of the year. Home is the word for next year. Which is this week.

Back to the stuff.

Giving stickers to the kiddos riding in carts.

Giving the 11 year old – who’s using his own wadded up money to buy a stash of his favorite snack – a tenth bag for free and hearing him loudly wish us ‘Merry Christmas’ on his way out with his Mom. Like he still believed in Christmas magic.

Receiving gratitude from the guy who went out of his way to thank me for working Christmas Eve.

A kind-eyed woman with a massive cart full of everything tried to give me a tip. Her face will stay with me.

Someone today told me to breathe. They were right. January 19, 2026

Dear Apple

Thanks for making the device you force me to use even more of a bummer with your stupid OS update. I guess I could say thanks for keeping a massive number of people employed? I am taken aback by this shit and I knew it was coming.

What’s this whole deal about? What’s it’s ‘reason for being’ in the first place? Who wanted this? Why is it better? Where is the improvement? Why is my phone making weird jerky animations? How many teams were there? How did this thing get conceptualized architected features prototyped tested revised deconstructed coded

The blatant clawing to remain relevant is pathetic. Steve probably would think everyone’s an idiot. Then again, he kinda did think that.

If I start to look closer at this interface on this little slab of steel glass plastic vapor electrons I’ll lose myself in it because so much of it makes no sense. Are they trying to keep us distracted with UI changes? Changes that probably drive the consumer to a acquire a new or at least upgraded device since their current underpowered block of metal and rare earth stuff and water is now crashing and buggy and probably has a dot release I haven’t downloaded. Let’s not forget the three plus fucking thousand gallons of water it takes to make an iPhone but I’m done with my letter.

You guys will do what you do because we’re hooked and you’re our dealer. For now.
